News and Updates for Tampa Bay Living Green Expo
Dunedin Expo a Great Success!
The Tampa Bay Living Green Dunedin Expo, which took place over the weekend of October 16th and 17th, saw over 2000 attendees come out to learn how to live a more sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle to benefit their households, businesses, and our community. The Expo, our first one held in Dunedin, also marked the first time we have held two in one calendar year.
The beautiful weather made for a perfect weekend for visitors to check out the many vendors, both new and returning. Returning for another expo were dozens of wonderful vendors, including REAL Building Group, designer and renovator of green homes; DayLight Concepts, who sell and install solar powered lighting systems; and the Southwest Florida Water Management District, with a booth full of information to teach visitors about water conservation.
Counted among our many exciting new vendors were exhibitors such as DwellGreen, a Sarasota-based group who will evaluate your home’s water and energy consumption and overall efficiency; Suncoast Waldorf School, a Palm Harbor school with the goal of becoming the first recognized green school in Tampa Bay; and Suncoast Textile Recycling, who recycles used clothing and shoes to needy people around the world. Also making their Tampa Bay Living Green Expo debut was Dirt And Love (www.dirtandlove.com), a t-shirt company run by kids 11 and 13 years old (with help from Mom and Dad) and for kids, who donates a portion of the profit from every t-shirt sold to non-profit organizations that help children in our communities and environmental causes.
In addition to enjoying the many and varied vendors, attendees sampled delicious food from Fresh Go Market and Jilly’s Fresh Fun Food, and viewed exhibits including plug-in hybrid cars, a green garbage truck, and even a green yacht. The entire weekend was a wonderful experience for everyone involved and wouldn’t have been possible without our outstanding volunteers, including students from ROTC and the National Honor Society at Dunedin High School, and without sponsors like J.B. Edwards who donated shirts for our volunteers.
Thank you to all of our vendors, exhibitors, volunteers, sponsors, and especially the attendees who came out to be a part of our first Tampa Bay Living Green Dunedin Expo and helped to make it such a great success. Tampa Bay Living Green’s next Expo will return to St. Petersburg on April 2nd and 3rd. We look forward to seeing you there!

PLGE Wins “Best of the Bay” Award
The Pinellas Living Green Expo has received a 2009 Best of the Bay award for the “Best Green Expo/Festival”. This is the first year that an award was given for this category, and we hope to see the award become an annual tradition for the Expo.As strong believers in the drive towards a greener and more sustainable community, this award affirms all that we have been working towards since our first Expo back in 2006. The past few years have seen our Expo grow from a small event in St. Petersburg, expand to the larger Harborview Center in Clearwater, and finally return back to a multi-venue location in St. Petersburg. We hope to continue to grow and expand, sharing our message of sustainability and conservation with all residents of Tampa Bay. Thank you for voting us the 2009 Best of the Bay “Best Green Expo/Festival”.
2010 Expo moves back to St. Petersburg
This year, the Pinellas Living Green Expo returns to its original host city of St. Petersburg. After spending the past two years at the beautiful Harborview Center in Clearwater, the Expo comes back to its original location at the Coliseum in downtown St. Petersburg, with additional space at the Sunshine Center across the street.Holding the 2010 Expo at two locations give us a unique opportunity to bring new and exciting additions to the event. This new expanded venue provides more space for events and activities for the entire family, including an outdoor stage for live performances and booths selling food from local vendors.
